STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) tours provides student with the opportunity to participate in hands-on workshops that go beyond the theory. Tour participants work with top engineers, researchers and scientists discovering the real-world applications of the science they are learning in school.
Research shows that sixty percent of students lose interest in math and science by eighth grade. The ultimate purpose for the HBCU Stem Outreach Tours in partnership with the Department of Defense and under the AMRDEC STEM Outreach program, is to add more professional engineers and scientists to the national student talent pool, by stimulating science and technology interest, and exposing students to HBCU STEM partners as potential choices toward degree matriculation by generating excitement through hands-on activities and field trips.
